What is a Report ?
The Harness Expert Report environment serves mainly as a summary and list of Parts, their interconnection and also for keeping track of costs and for ordering (in case of BOM).
Read moreWhat is a Nailboard ?
The Nailboard is the 2D environment of Harness Expert in which the manufacturing drawing is derivated out of the 3D harness. The Nailboard drawing is a 1:1 flattened drawing of the 3D design. This drawing can be used to manufacture the physical harness. The Nailboard drawing is linked with the 3D Workspace. If the Workspace is changed then the Nailboard can be updated.
Read moreWhat is a Workspace ?
The Workspace is the 3D harness design environment in which the virtual harness design is made. This design is the source for the Nailboard and Report creation.
Read moreIs it possible to take a existing Project to a customer ?
Yes, a project can be copied to i.e. a Notebook and taken to a customer. The only restriction is, if no library is taken with then no new parts can be placed.
Read moreIs it possible to put Projects to a Server ?
Yes, a project can be located on the server.

What is a Harness Expert Project ?
A project is an environment in which all harness design related modules are integrated. A project consists out of 1-n Variants (only the full version – not the Versions HEX 100 and HEX 300). Within each Variant there are 1-n Workspaces for the 3D harness design, 1-n Workdesks to design 2D formboards, 1-n Nail boards / form boards for the 2D manufacturing drawings and 1-n Reports. Furthermore also related documents like Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, PDF’s can be included either on the project level or on the variant level.
Read moreWhat is the differnece between Nailboard and Formboard ?
Nailboard and Formboard are two terms for the same thing. It is the physical board on which the harness is manufactured.
Read moreIs the Harness Expert Studio multi user capable ?
Yes, different user can work on different documents, but only one user at the same time at one documents. If a user opens a document already opened the he gets a read only message.
Read moreHow is the Harness Expert Studio build ?
The Studio environment is a project based environment in which the harness are designed. It consist out of the sub modules Workspace, Workdesk, Report and Nailboard.
Read moreWhat is Harness Expert Studio?
Harness Expert Studio is a project based unique stand-alone easy-to-use solution, which enables you to create 3D harnesses, 2D harnesses, 2D Nailboards and Reports efficiently and fast. Within the project environment also additional document like Excel files, PDF’s, Word documents can be included. Each project can have multiple Variants, Workspaces, Nail boards, Reports and additional documents.
Read moreWhat is Nailboard or Formboard Design ?
Nailboard or Formboard design are the 2-dimensional harness manufacturing drawings. In Harness Expert the formboard will be automatically derived from the 3D Model. Beginning with Version 3 of HarnessExpert we introduce a new form board module. This form board module allows the design of a 2-dimensional form board without any 3D geometry. This grings the form board design to a complete new level.
Read moreIs it possible to import 2D connector graphics downloaded from a connector web site ?
Yes, almost all connector vendors deliver the 2D connector graphics in DXF format. This can be opened in Harness Experts 2D environments – like Library and Nailboard.
Read moreIs it possible to import connectors directly downloaded from a connector vendor web site ?
Yes, if the additional available CAD Translator is installed then you can download the mostly used STEP, IGES files directly from the connector vendors web site. If no CAD Translator is installed then only VRM, STL, Open Inventor models can be used.
Read moreIs it possible to import connectors created within MCAD systems into Harness Expert ?
Yes, if the additional available CAD Translator is installed then almost all available 3D MCAD formats can be imported natively. If no CAD Translator module is installed, then only VRM, STL, Open Inventor models can be imported. But almost all 3D MCAD systems on the marked are able to export i.e. VRML.
Read moreDoes Harness Expert support AWG wire core sizes ?
Yes, Harness Expert support also AWG wires. The AWG core size can of course be the leading core size. When a metric core size is entered then Harness Expert automatically computes the AWG.
Read moreFor what is the 2D graphics used ?
The 2D graphics will be used within the Nailboard environment. If 2D graphics is assigned to a 3D part – then this 2D graphics will automatically placed in the Nailboard.
Read moreIs it possible to add independent 2D graphics to the library ?
Yes, independent 2D graphics can be applied in the Library.
Read moreIs it possible to add drawing frames and drawing headers to the library ?
Yes, drawing headers and drawing frames can be applied in the Library.
Read moreIs it possible to add 2D graphics to 3D objects ?
Yes, every 3D Part can have a 2D drawing assigned. This 2D drawing is used/displayed later in Nailboard when the 3D harness is flattened.
Read moreIs it possible to version library objects ?
Yes, all Library parts can be versioned. It is possible to have a minor version i.e. from version 1 to 1.1 or a major version i.e. from version 1 to version 2.
Read moreIs it possible to add minimum order quantity and lead time to the library objects ?
Yes, it is possible to add minimum order quantity and lead time to every library object.
Read moreIs it possible to add user defined properties to the library objects ?
Yes, if additional properties are needed, the it is possible to add a unlimited number of user defined properties to each object.
